THOUGHTFUL PACKAGING. ROOTED IN POSSIBILITY.Let’s grow together

MATERIALS, WITHOUT THE GUESSWORK

Good choices start with clear materials.

Understand bio-based, biodegradable and compostable packaging, product documentation and disposal considerations before you buy.

01

Bio-based

Where a material comes from.

Refers to material made wholly or partly from biomass. It does not, by itself, establish how the finished product breaks down.

02

Biodegradable

A process, with specific conditions.

A claim needs a defined environment, time frame and supporting evidence. The word alone is not a disposal instruction.

03

Compostable

A defined treatment pathway.

Specify home or industrial composting and verify the exact product documentation. Facility acceptance still needs to be checked.

ASK FOR THE EVIDENCE

The right questions
before the next order.

  1. What is the composition of the finished product?
  2. Which product and dimensions does the certificate cover?
  3. Is the certificate current and independently verifiable?
  4. What are the test conditions and performance limits?
  5. Will the local collection operator accept this product?

A note on certification

References to BPI or composting standards are educational. They do not represent a certification of RerootBio or every format on this website. Request current documents for your selected product.
